Resketch, a company led by Chicago artist Shawn Smith, turns discarded architectural diagrams, maps, and logs into unique notebooks and sketchpads. This innovatively bypasses traditional recycling processes, minimizing resource consumption. Resketch collaborates with a variety of partners to recover 8 to 10 tons of unused high-quality paper annually, which would otherwise contribute to waste. The final products not only allow for creativity through additions to existing prints but also offer a sense of discovery as users find hidden notes and designs among the pages.
Through partnerships with the creative community and local and national businesses, we rescue 8 to 10 tons of high-quality, unused paper every year that would otherwise prematurely enter the waste stream.
The resulting designs offer users the opportunity to creatively engage with the original markings and add their own additions to the printed pages.
