Dropout.tv CEO Sam Reich announced on Friday that subscription prices will rise starting May 7, increasing monthly fees from $5.99 to $6.99 and annual fees from $59.99 to $69.99. Current subscribers will retain their lower rates until they modify or cancel their plan. This price adjustment, the first since January 2022, is attributed to inflation and enhanced production value. However, new annual subscribers can still enjoy a 20% discount. Reich emphasized the importance of price hikes for the service’s sustainability while rewarding loyal customers in the process.
To allow us to continue to operate in a healthy, sustainable way, we think that raising prices every few years to keep up with costs and inflation makes sense, but we still want to reward existing subscribers for their loyalty.
This is the first time Dropout has increased its price since January 2022, reflecting various factors like higher production values, inflation, and ensuring adequate compensation for staff.
