An omega-3 dose a day could slow ageing process, healthspan' trial finds
Briefly

A clinical trial suggests that daily consumption of omega-3 oils can slow biological aging in healthy older adults. Participants over 70, consuming one gram of omega-3 daily for three years, exhibited a biological age reduction of about three months. Those also receiving vitamin D and exercising saw an additional benefit, totalling nearly four months. This study employed epigenetic clocks to measure biological aging through DNA methylation. Despite the modest effects, researchers believe sustained changes might meaningfully impact overall population health.
Researchers found that healthy older people taking a gram of omega-3 daily aged about three months less than controls, a significant finding regarding longevity.
The combination of omega-3, vitamin D, and regular exercise yielded nearly four months of biological age reduction, suggesting manageable lifestyle interventions for healthspan.
