Gemma Collins weight-loss drug advert banned
Briefly

An Instagram post by Gemma Collins promoting Yazen's weight-loss drug and app has been banned due to regulations against advertising prescription-only medications. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) found her advert, which claimed progress in weight loss, led to potential misinterpretations encouraging prescription requests. Yazen, a Swedish healthcare brand, provides a program combining medication and lifestyle coaching. Collins acknowledged her responsibility in promoting the service and agreed to adhere to guidelines moving forward. Other related adverts were also banned for similar breaches of ASA rules regarding prescription drugs.
The ASA stated that it sought advice from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, which expressed concern that consumers were likely to be led to request a prescription weight-loss medication.
Ms Collins accepted that her posts had promoted the Yazen weight-loss service and app, and she would follow guidance in future.
The now-banned advert referenced prescription medications, breaching ASA rules.
Out of nine adverts banned, eight promoted prescription-only weight-loss medications to the public, violating advertising codes.
