Lansing Community College settles data breach suit
Briefly

Lansing Community College has settled a lawsuit for $1.45 million after a data breach possibly affecting over 750,000 individuals, despite denying significant damage.
The college stated that there is no evidence suggesting that any personal identifiable information of the plaintiffs, or others, was exfiltrated from its networks.
In response to the breach, LCC is discontinuing the use of the vulnerable application, increasing verification steps, and enhancing digital surveillance.
A similar lawsuit settlement occurred earlier this year with Hope College in Michigan, which paid $1.5 million for a data breach impacting fewer individuals.
