Recent excavations at Tel Megiddo have provided archaeological evidence supporting the biblical story of King Josiah, who was reportedly killed by Pharaoh Necho II. Researchers discovered a large structure from the late seventh century BC, along with Egyptian pottery and Greek vessels, suggesting a significant foreign presence in the area. This discovery was unexpected and adds a new dimension to our understanding of ancient events described in the Bible, linking historical figures like Josiah, an ancestor of Jesus, to real archaeological findings.
Our recent excavations near the administrative quarter of Megiddo revealed the remains of a large structure dated to the late seventh century BC.
The Greek pottery is usually considered as representing Greek mercenaries. From sources such as Herodotus... we know that Greeks from Anatolia served as mercenaries in the Egyptian army.
