An extensive marble pavement has been uncovered in Magnesia's agora, spanning 10,000 square meters, with its preservation attributed to layers of silt from past earthquakes. Excavations, ongoing since 2021, reveal less than half of the complete 25,000 square meter agora, noted for being one of the largest and best preserved in the ancient Mediterranean. Surrounded by stoas and filled with inscriptions, the agora served as a hub for political, religious, and commercial activities, central to the city’s identity and historical knowledge.
