The fourth volume of Netflix's Love, Death, and Robots returns with a mix of stories that showcase various tones and styles. While it doesn't reach the heights of its predecessor, which featured standout episodes, it still presents compelling shorts, such as tales of cyberpunk revenge and bizarre hosts like MrBeast in a death race. The season also embraces humor through unusual narratives, including confessions from smart devices and a cat aiming for world domination. The anthology format ensures diverse experiences, even if not all episodic adventures resonate equally with audiences.
It's not the strongest season, but there's still a lot to like in the Netflix anthology's return.
At its best, Netflix's Love, Death, and Robots creates the same feeling as picking up a collection of sci-fi short stories.
What volume 4 does do well - and it's something that's a strength of LDR as a whole - is offer a wide variety of tones and styles.
There's a lot of comedy here, for instance. One episode is a confessional for smart devices like connected toothbrushes and toilets.
