"There is a vulnerability that allows anyone using a phone to take over an Ecovacs robot via Bluetooth from as far away as 450 feet," said Giese, emphasizing the remote control capabilities hackers can exploit.
"We can access cameras, microphones, whatever," Giese explained, showcasing the extent of control hackers can achieve once they exploit the vulnerabilities in Ecovacs robots.
"The lawn mower robots have Bluetooth active at all times, while the vacuum robots enable Bluetooth for 20 minutes when switched on, making them a bit harder to exploit," Giese noted.
