EU accused of leaving devastating' copyright loophole in AI Act
Briefly

Axel Voss, an architect of EU copyright law, highlighted the urgent need for new legislation to safeguard writers and artists against a legal gap in the EU's AI Act. 15 cultural organizations have expressed concern that the draft rules are regressing on copyright protections, particularly regarding generative AI systems like ChatGPT. Voss noted that the copyright directive from 2019 was not designed for these technologies, leading to unprotected creative works against the backdrop of big tech advancements. He stressed the importance of filling this gap with robust legislation, although he acknowledges it may take years to achieve.

I do not understand is that we are supporting big tech instead of protecting European creative ideas and content, highlighting the urgent need for new copyright legislation.
