Former NBA player Festus Ezeli has shifted his focus from basketball to media and mentorship after injuries ended his career. Now actively engaged in social outreach, he recently visited Africa where he formed a close friendship with Florida center Rueben Chinyelu. Ezeli is particularly proud of Chinyelu's recent success in guiding the Florida Gators to the NCAA semifinals while emphasizing the importance of mentoring young players. This relationship reflects Ezeli's commitment to being a positive influence and 'big brother' figure within the community.
Rueben is my guy. A fellow Nigerian, playing college ball in the SEC, where I got to play at Vanderbilt. I'm really proud of him and what he's doing.
For me, with my platform now, I think so much about being the mentor for young kids who are like me, who need a big brother.
I'm really proud of the work he's doing. He's doing an incredible job, and to see him…
Ezeli defined himself by what he accomplishes off the court after knee injuries cut short his NBA career.
