USC's JuJu Watkins wins AP women's player of the year award
Briefly

JuJu Watkins, a standout sophomore on the Southern California women's basketball team, was awarded The Associated Press women's basketball Player of the Year. Leading USC to its first Big Ten title in over three decades, Watkins received 29 out of 31 votes from a national media panel. With impressive season averages of 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, she became just the fourth sophomore to win this accolade since the award's inception in 1995. Despite an ACL injury that cut her season short, she received widespread praise for her skills and community service efforts.
Watkins is already in the top 10 on USC's career scoring list, ranking ninth, averaging 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists before her injury.
It’s one thing to say she’s a generational talent, but another to actually do it and put yourself up with names like Stewie, Maya and Courtney Paris.
