We couldn't talk about the 2025 season without including future Hall of Fame starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw, and his farewell tour will occupy the No. 8 spot on Dodgers Nation's Top 10 Dodgers Highlights of 2025. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Kershaw out of Highland Park High School with the seventh overall pick in the 2006 draft, and he spent 18 seasons pitching for LA before retiring at the end of the 2025 season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will host a "Home For The Holidays" pet adoption event at Dodger Stadium Dec. 14, opening the opportunity for Dodger fans touring home a dog from a local animal shelter. The event is set to take place from 9:00 a.m. PT to 1:00 p.m. PT. The event is open to the public and will not require a ticket nor an RSVP.

While Dave Roberts has been a model of consistency since being hired as Los Angeles Dodgers manager prior to the 2016 season, the same hasn't held true for his alma mater. The UCLA football team has cycled through five head coaches, when including interims, during Roberts' managerial career. The Bruins are poised to usher in a sixth new head coach during that span with their hiring of Bob Chesney from James Madison University.

The players remain strongly against an MLB salary cap as it would limit their potential earnings, while the league believes implementing one is necessary to improve competitive balance across the sport. As it currently stands, MLB is the only major North American professional sports league without a salary cap. The NFL, NBA and NHL all use one with their own variations and intricacies.

The Dodgers recently picked up the $10 million option that ensures Muncy will play a ninth season with the organization. That had long been viewed as the most likely outcome, though it was also plausible the sides would come to terms on a new contract extension. During an appearance on the "Foul Territory" show, Muncy said he would still be open to signing a contract extension with the Dodgers if the opportunity presents itself:

Howard began his career with the Dodgers after signing with the club in 1958, earning a call-up to MLB later that season. During his first consistent stretch of playing time in 1960, he was among the league's best rookies. In 117 games during that year, Howard posted a .268/.320/.464 slash with 23 home runs and 77 RBI, which earned him National League Rookie of the Year honors.

With the days getting shorter and the MLB offseason beginning to gain momentum, general managers across the league are preparing their best offers as the annual Winter Meetings loom large. Throughout the years, the Winter Meetings have allowed executives to come together, discuss trades, and arrange signings with players. Often considered the unofficial "beginning of the offseason," the event has produced some of the biggest blockbusters in MLB history - and some of its most infamous flops.

Wills began his career with the Dodgers in 1959 and went on to earn five All-Star Game selections over the next eight seasons. He was the recipient of the 1962 National League MVP Award after hitting .299/.347/.373 with 13 doubles, 10 triples, six home runs, 48 RBI and 104 stolen bases in 165 games. Wills was said to be heartbroken by the trade, but remained productive with the Pirates, batting .290 with 42 extra-base hits and 81 stolen bases in two seasons.

Sutcliffe received 20 of 24 first-place votes to run away with the award. Houston Astros outfielder Jeffrey Leonard - who spent the 1977 season with the Dodgers - received three first-place votes to finish second to Sutcliffe. Rookie of the Year finalists were rounded out Chicago Cubs outfielder Scot Thompson, who garnered one vote for first place. Sutcliffe made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 1976, but only started one game.

If a salary cap ends up being a sticking point for team owners, MLB could be facing a possible work stoppage. MLBPA executive director Tony Clark previously said the union would not be receptive to any salary cap proposals in the next round of CBA talks.
