Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is set to receive a contract extension before the team departs for the Tokyo Series on February 12. Both president Andrew Friedman and GM Brandon Gomes expressed their commitment to securing Roberts' future with the team, emphasizing that discussions would take place after finalizing the roster. Roberts, in his 10th season, has an impressive .627 winning percentage and has led the team to multiple playoff successes, including four World Series appearances and two championships during his tenure.
The trio seemingly was in agreement that negotiations could wait until after the Dodgers completed roster construction for the year.
Roberts has a career .627 winning percentage is the highest of any manager in MLB history (minimum 315 games).
According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, Friedman said the target is to have Roberts signed to an extension before the Dodgers leave for the Tokyo Series.
Roberts and the Dodgers arguably would have won the World Series in 2017 as well if not for the Houston Astros' cheating scandal.
