Michael Kopech undergoes surgery for torn meniscus in latest Dodgers crusher
Briefly

The Dodgers are experiencing a rough period with a six-game losing streak and the recent surgery of reliever Michael Kopech, who has been moved to the 60-day injured list due to a torn meniscus. Despite his limited appearances this season, Kopech is anticipated to return before the season ends. To accommodate Tyler Glasnow’s return to the roster, right-handed pitcher Alexis Díaz was optioned to the minor leagues. The Dodgers continue to lead the National League and have a significant edge in the NL West standings, even with several pitchers on the injured list.
The Dodgers moved reliever Michael Kopech to the 60-day injured list after he underwent surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee. Kopech is still expected to return before the end of the season. The 29-year-old threw just seven innings in eight appearances before landing on the 15-day IL with right knee inflammation.
Kopech was terrific for the Dodgers last year, posting a 1.13 ERA in 24 regular-season innings and nine postseason frames during their World Series title run.
Kopech joins a long list of Dodgers pitchers on the 60-day IL, including starters Blake Snell and Tony Gonsolin and relievers like Blake Treinen and Brusdar Graterol.
Despite the injuries, the Dodgers still own the best record in the National League and have a five-game lead on the second-place Giants in the NL West standings.
