Roki Sasaki approached Dodgers about changing pitching schedule
Briefly

The Los Angeles Dodgers have effectively navigated a demanding 10-game road trip, showcasing their pitching staff, which has consistently delivered at least five innings per start. Notably, Landon Knack and Matt Sauer led an impressive victory against the Miami Marlins. However, the grueling schedule may test the limits of their pitchers, prompting a decision to have Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki pitch on five days of rest for the first time this season. Manager Dave Roberts acknowledges the adjustment for rookie Sasaki, who is eager to embrace the challenge ahead.
"Yoshi I don't think it's going to be that significant because we did that last year," Roberts said regarding Yamamoto, who made 11 of his 18 starts last season on five days of rest. "With Roki being a young pitcher and that being all he's known, it's going to be different. I know he's excited about it. And really he initiated the conversation about when this was going to happen."
The Dodgers asked Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki to pitch on five days of rest for the first time this season. Both pitchers were accustomed to starting on six days of rest during their time in Japan. Yamamoto has experience handling a Major League workload, but Sasaki will face a significant adjustment.
The pitching staff has succeeded during the Dodgers’ challenging 10-game road trip, with each starter going at least five innings and Ben Casparius leading the bullpen game.
Manager Dave Roberts noted that despite the impressive performance so far, the intense schedule could stretch the pitching staff thin, especially with a crucial series against the Arizona Diamondbacks coming up.
