The fan that caught the record-breaking ball of Shohei Ohtani's 176th career home run is selling it, projected to fetch as much as $200,000 at auction through Heritage Auctions.
Ohtani surpassed Hideki Matsui for the highest career home run total by a Japanese-born player in MLB. The blast left the bat at 110 mph, traveled approximately 423 feet, and landed in Dodger Stadium's right field pavilion.
"His presence, his ability as a player, he's just a great player," Matsui praised Ohtani on his record-breaking accomplishment. Matsui, a former title holder himself, emphasized the significance of Ohtani's achievement and expressed his hopes for Ohtani's health and future success.
