A Force Behind Ultra-Lauded Atomix Is Opening Her Own NYC Restaurant

Somssi will open at 79 MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village near Bleecker Street, with reservations now available. Ahris Kim, previously general manager at Atoboy and later director of operations across the business, is opening her first restaurant under Na:Eun Hospitality. The menu is a lighthearted neo-bistro drawing from Korean, Asian, and European influences, featuring dishes such as grilled ox tongue with romesco sauce, a triple-potato dish with smoked trout roe, caraflex cabbage with crab and egg, and a market-price mutton chop. Popcorn ice cream with popcorn brittle stands out among desserts. Daniel Gronert will run the kitchen, while Christian Gray and sommelier Jenny Eagleton will oversee a wine and sake list focused on lesser-known producers and regions. The space uses exposed brick, deep green walls, antique fixtures, and vintage pieces, and will serve dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
