Can't make rent because of the fires? L.A. County considers a six-month lifeline
Briefly

In response to the financial impact of the January wildfires, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors has proposed a six-month eviction protection for tenants affected by the disasters. Supervisor Lindsey Horvath's motion extends protections not only to those who lost homes but also to workers in impacted industries. The proposal, which has garnered majority support, requires tenants to demonstrate a significant income loss and is focused on easing immediate financial burdens while balancing concerns for landlords struggling in the current climate.
These workers live throughout Los Angeles County - not only in or near the fire zones. Workers need time - not forever, just a little time.
The motion is meant to encompass not just renters who lost homes in the fires but anyone whose livelihood was affected.
I have concerns that the county may be asking too much of small landlords who were struggling themselves.
