Maria Sharapova is selling her custom-built modern house in Manhattan Beach for nearly $25 million, having paid $4.1 million in 2012. The architectural firm KAA Design helped create the minimalist home that took three years to complete. Sharapova actively participated in the design process, influencing every detail and material choice. Inside, the house features a grand foyer with a floating staircase and is designed with Japanese minimalist inspiration. Fun amenities like a bowling alley and a swimming pool accompany the simple yet elegant decor.
"She was involved in every single aspect of this house, down to the most minute detail and material permutation," architect Grant Kirkpatrick said. "To say that she simply collaborated with us does not adequately describe her dedication and influence on the design."
"I was inspired by Japanese architecture and minimalist aesthetics," Sharapova explained. "I didn't grow up with lots of stuff around. For me, uncluttered means healthy. If you don't use something, you don't need it."
