The City of Norwalk has approved the transformation of a former state youth jail into the Norwalk Transit Village, which will include extensive residential and commercial development.
Designed by Perkins&Will, the Norwalk Transit Village will feature four- and five-story apartments, a commercial center, and significant public green spaces, with affordability integrated.
40 percent of the planned apartments will be affordable, highlighting Norwalk's intention to address housing needs amidst ongoing legal challenges regarding homeless shelter ordinances.
The project’s completion by 2030 is anticipated to enhance local transit connections, aligning with Norwalk's broader development goals while navigating current state disputes.
