A former longtime general counsel to Moody's, John Goggins, was sentenced to 8 months in prison for willfully failing to file personal federal income tax returns despite earning $54 million.
Goggins's $3.1 million in restitution was considered a mitigating factor, but he would have been better off paying his taxes on time to avoid severe repercussions.
