The decision is justified by the firm as a move to enhance their operational efficiency while still maintaining their commitment to clients in the Greater China area. Post-closure, Cleary Gottlieb will retain offices only in Hong Kong and Seoul.
In July 2025, Cleary Gottlieb will merge our Beijing operations with Hong Kong, closing the Beijing office and consolidating our Greater China presence into Hong Kong.
