Joshua Michals, 26, denies murdering 31-year-old Zhe Wang, a fellow Goldsmiths student, after she was found with two stab wounds to her face in her Manor Park flat. Michals called 999 in March 2024 and claims he acted in self-defence after Wang attacked him with a knife. He told police he pressed his forearm to her neck to restrain her and did not intend to kill her. A post-mortem found stab wounds to the head and neck compression. Michals called his father, obtained a solicitor's details, phoned an ambulance, and disposed of Wang's phone.
