Former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein faces charges of first-degree trespass and fourth-degree assault related to a pro-Palestinian protest at Washington University last spring. Stein allegedly kicked a police officer and struck him with a bicycle when authorities ordered the protesters to disperse. Despite the charges, the prosecuting attorney clarified that these do not reflect the stance on free speech or the protest's cause. Stein claims she was assaulted by an officer, leading to her arrest. A court date is set for May 19.
