Ipswich Town's chairman, Mark Ashton, has made it clear that the club will be difficult to negotiate with regarding striker Liam Delap, who has garnered attention from top clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United. While Delap, 22, has made a notable impact in the Premier League this season, scoring ten goals, Manchester City holds a buy-back clause on him. Nonetheless, Ashton downplayed any urgency to sell and emphasized Ipswich's strong ownership, indicating that negotiations will be conducted on the club's terms, dismissing rumors about the buy-back clause as possibly misreported.
"What I can say is that in January there were was interest in a number of our players from a number of Premier League clubs. But ownership were great. It was, 'You don't have to sell'."
"We’re not an easy club to buy from, because we have such strong ownership. Obviously there is always natural point in time when a player has to move."
