Lucien Aubey, a former loanee at Portsmouth, has been sentenced to two years in jail after being convicted of fraud related to a failed investment scheme with his co-defendant Mohamed Dia. The pair misled a friend, Sebastien, into investing 120,000 euros for a record label, promising hefty returns. The Toulouse court's investigation included intercepted phone calls, indicating criminal intent. Despite claiming innocence, Aubey was found guilty, with part of his sentence suspended and a requirement to reimburse his victim. Aubey was also accused of making threats regarding Sebastien's children during the dispute for repayment.
"I lost everything, and my wife wanted to commit suicide. I had to give up work. We split up, and those two just had a good laugh about it all."
"My money was tied up in Cyprus, held by my club Olympiakos Nicosia. This wasn't a fraud—I never robbed anyone."
