Arne Slot expressed his views on the PGMOL's acknowledgment of a officiating mistake during the Merseyside derby, where Everton defender James Tarkowski should have received a red card for a foul on Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister. The referee, Sam Barrott, showed only a yellow card, which VAR did not overturn. While Slot appreciated the admission, he emphasized that such a clear error should not occur in the first place. Despite this incident, he believes refereeing standards in the Premier League are generally acceptable and understands mistakes are part of the game.
Slot refused to elaborate too much on the incident but said: "It is always good that if they think they have made a mistake that they acknowledge that. We all know that mistakes are being made during football matches - by us, by me, by referees."
