A historic hotel in London, the Chiltern Firehouse, was severely damaged by a fire that broke out on Valentine's Day. The blaze, which began at a pizza oven, required the rapid response of over 140 firefighters from 20 stations. Though guests were evacuated safely, the building suffered significant damage, leading to its closure for refurbishment. Owner Andre Balazs expressed heartfelt gratitude to the firefighters, some of whom had emotional ties to the site from its days as a fire station. The planned Netflix Baftas after-party was relocated due to the incident.
No one was injured during the dramatic overnight incident, but the hotel is expected to be closed for a significant period of time for repairs.
