Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were called at 8.15pm on September 19 with reports of a fire above a shop in High Street North. Despite the considerable resources deployed, the fire took more than two hours to extinguish, but thankfully there were no injuries reported and the cause is currently under investigation.
Around 60 firefighters in eight fire engines from East Ham, Brixton, and Poplar stations were dispatched to the blaze. The incident involved a flat above a CEX store on High Street North, with flames originating from a four-roomed flat, loft conversion, and roof. A turntable ladder was particularly instrumental in controlling the fire.
