Abdul-Latif Pouget, just 20 years old, was discovered injured from a stabbing incident after what was initially reported as a moped crash. His tragic death three days later has left his family and football community devastated.
Club secretary Duygu Ozen reflected on Abdul-Latif's character: 'He was a cool-headed player with a kind heart, whose ambition was football. He was gentle and quiet, preferring to communicate through text rather than face-to-face. His shyness masked a deeper connection within the team.'
Deniz, Abdul-Latif's manager, expressed his devastation over the loss: 'He can’t accept what happened. Abdul-Latif was an integral part of our team, a player whose quiet nature belied the impact he had on everyone around him. It felt unreal when we received the news. We thought it was a joke at first.'
Duygu emphasized the team's reaction, stating, 'We were absolutely devastated when the manager told us. It just didn’t seem real at the time. A minute’s silence will be held in memory of Abdul-Latif at the upcoming London Challenge cup competition, a fitting tribute to a beloved teammate.'
