Her dad never spoke about his life in Berlin - now she knows why
Briefly

Sara Davidmann, daughter of Manfred, who fled Nazi Germany, sought to uncover her father's hidden past after his death. A family photo album, curated by her aunt Susi, sparked her investigation into the lives of relatives who disappeared during the Holocaust. This journey led her to significant archives revealing tragic stories of those lost, like her great-grandmother and great-aunt, taken by the Nazis to concentration camps. The artist's discoveries help illuminate a previously unspoken chapter of family history and the impact of the Holocaust.
My father was never able to talk about what had happened to him at all... It was just a chapter of his life that he felt he had to internalise.
It was just amazing because there was this family in Germany and a lot of them were in Berlin that I knew nothing about.
These revealed both tragic and remarkable stories about those missing from the photos.
The catalyst for this work was the discovery of a family photo album... containing carefully annotated images, including many of her father.
