The Tornado & Storm Research Organisation (TORRO) warned of possible tornadoes across London on September 26, citing wind gusts of up to 50mph and thunderstorms.
TORRO explained that 'a shortwave trough will move NE through today,' resulting in showers and isolated thunderstorms that will likely develop inland during the day.
They noted that 'deep layer shear is favourable for small clusters or lines of storms,' and there is potential for low-level rotation, possibly resulting in brief tornadoes.
The Met Office forecasts strong winds, with an expectation of heavy, thundery showers spreading across the region from late morning, particularly impacting southern coastlines.
