The man suffered head injuries after being struck by an object in a lift shaft at a construction site, prompting a significant emergency response and air ambulance.
The lift shaft was sealed at the request of the HSE to prevent any further injuries, and the incident lasted around an hour.
Ambulance crews arrived within five minutes and treated the injured man before transporting him to a major trauma centre in London.
Plans for the construction include a state-of-the-art building for Greenwich College and provide 294 new homes, projected to open in September 2025.
