The Metropolitan Police are investigating 40 new allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape and assault, against Mohamed Al Fayed and others, following a BBC documentary.
Since the airing of the documentary, Cmdr Stephen Clayman stated, 'detectives have received numerous pieces of information... This has led to us record 40 new allegations, relating to 40 victim-survivors...'
These allegations cover a range of serious offenses, including sexual assault and rape, spanning from 1979 to 2013, highlighting the longstanding nature of these claims.
The BBC documentary prompted five women to come forward with their experiences, alleging that they were assaulted by Al Fayed, and suggesting systemic enablement by his associates.
