Prolific Dagenham shoplifter banned from entering busy shopping areas
Briefly

Robert Gavillet, a 23-year-old prolific shoplifter from Dagenham, has been banned from busy shopping areas after being charged with 11 shoplifting offences. His actions primarily took place between August and October 2024 at The Mall, Heathway, and Merrielands Retail Park. After pleading guilty at Barkingside Magistrates' Court, he received a three-year criminal behaviour order, restricting his access to certain areas unless using pre-approved transport for medical or legal appointments. Local authorities are committed to improving shop safety through collaborative efforts in response to Gavillet's persistent criminal behavior.
Gavillet was sentenced following the relentless dedication from the Heathway team, Project ADDER, local safer neighbourhood officers and LBBD, following criminal behaviour order (CBO) panel meetings.
A criminal behaviour order will aim to prevent him from offending in this area for the next three years. We are working closely with our partners in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to secure criminal behaviour orders.
