Ingrid Pollard expressed her curiosity about the boys she photographed, saying, "I’ve often, far more recently, wondered what they’re still doing." She hopes to reconnect with them now.
Pollard reflected on her experience of photographing the boys, stating, "These were her last class... It was nice for the students, the boys. I felt it made them feel special."
Regarding the context of the exhibition, Pollard said, "The 80s: Photographing Britain" shows how photographers responded to the changing social and economic conditions during Margaret Thatcher's rule.
Pollard described her technical approach, mentioning, "I had used a medium format camera for the shot, which was on a tripod - there were lights and everything."
