Paul Uworibhor, a Metropolitan Police special constable, has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl under 13, prompting his suspension since October 2021.
The alleged assault on the victim occurred in 2010, predating Uworibhor's employment with the Met, but he faces charges nonetheless.
In addition to the charges, the Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified of the situation regarding Uworibhor's case.
Awaiting his court appearance at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on November 29, Uworibhor's case raises serious concerns about policing integrity.
