When a Repair Job Makes Things Worse: My Experience With iRepairMan
"I took my iPhone 16 Pro to iRepairMan for a screen replacement. On the surface, they seemed legitimate - a slick website, easy booking, quick turnaround. But what happened after the repair tells a different story. Almost immediately, I noticed issues: Brightness wildly inconsistent - sometimes full blast at half slider, sometimes so dim it's almost black. Colours clearly off. The phone running hot and the battery draining much faster than before. In short: the screen replacement made the phone worse, not better."
"On 3 Sept 2025, the company wrote: "We are prepared to refund you £95 once the phone screen parts are returned... This offer is conditional on the removal of any negative reviews you have left against our company." Earlier, on 28 Aug 2025, they'd told me: "It appears that you may not have experience with mobile phone repair home services... your limited technical knowledge... have led us to conclude that we cannot assist you further.""
I took an iPhone 16 Pro to iRepairMan for a screen replacement after finding the shop’s website and booking process credible. After the repair the display had wildly inconsistent brightness, inaccurate colours, and the phone ran hot with much faster battery drain. Contact with iRepairMan was evasive and then stopped. On 3 Sept 2025 the company offered a £95 refund only after the screen parts were returned and insisted that any negative reviews be removed. An earlier message on 28 Aug 2025 refused further assistance, citing limited technical knowledge. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
