World's first YMCA in central London to close
Briefly

The YMCA in central London, which has served the community since 1911, is closing due to demographic changes, high maintenance costs, and an aging building.
Chief executive Ryan Palmer expressed gratitude towards the community, stating the sale would enable the organization to focus on more sustainable and impactful services for existing and new members.
The facility, which features a 25m swimming pool and hosts over 125 classes weekly, has been a key player in community activities, including events for BBC Children in Need.
Despite the closure, Central YMCA plans to continue serving its community through facilities at Moorgate and King's Cross to support education and employment initiatives.
