Former Royal Mint to host a public exhibition of Chinese coins

Next month, visitors can explore part of the former Royal Mint building through an exhibition featuring highlights from the Shanghai Mint Museum's collection. This exhibition, titled 'COINect: Chinese Culture and Creativity,' is part of the Our Water cultural exchange program, focusing on water's connection to urban life. It will display over 100 coins and medals produced since the 1949 Communist victory, highlighting rich Chinese history through interactive coin production displays. The exhibition is free but requires advance ticket booking and valid photo ID for entry, running from June 8-14.
The exhibition will include over 100 sets of coins and medals, reflecting the 105-year history of the Shanghai Mint, arranged across twelve themed cases.
The exhibition highlights the Shanghai Mint's cultural heritage and provides interactive displays on coin production, showcasing elements of Chinese culture from ancient to modern times.
COINect: Chinese Culture and Creativity will be at the former Royal Mint from Sunday 8th to Saturday 14th June, and it's free to visit.
As part of Our Water, a cultural exchange programme, the exhibition explores the relationship between water and urban life in Shanghai and other global cities.
