Saatchi Yates Is Saying London Rules the World
Briefly

This summer, Saatchi Yates presents 'London Rules the World,' an exhibition celebrating London's artistic evolution from post-WWII to contemporary art. It features legendary artists like Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud, alongside modern influencers such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. The exhibition also honors institutions that support the city's art scene. With events like wine tastings, fashion shows, and collaborations with grassroots organizations, the exhibition emphasizes London's resilience and significance in the art world, challenging the notion that other cities can surpass it as a cultural hub.
Since opening the gallery all we have heard is how London as an art destination is being surpassed by cities like Paris, Milan and Dubai. We wanted to put on an exhibition that celebrated London history from the Modern British giants to the established superstars to art graduates breaking new ground.
We were particularly excited about exhibiting younger artists within a grand historic context, how through wars, cultural movements, recessions, a pandemic, Brexit, London's artists continue to triumph.
As well as celebrating artists, the show will also honour the institutions that have helped the city's art scene to thrive with a supporting programme of events.
With the show, the gallery will highlight how the city has constantly evolved but always remained a centre of groundbreaking art.
