Fallen tree halts Glasgow to London train journeys
Briefly

Train services between Glasgow and London are facing significant disruption after a fallen tree damaged overhead electric lines in southern Scotland. Avanti West Coast reported that all lines were blocked, significantly impacting scheduled services, with alternatives provided at no extra cost for passengers. Passengers on the Caledonian Sleeper service experienced prolonged delays. Network Rail Scotland indicated repair work was progressing rapidly, aiming for partial service restoration soon. Other lines, including Aberdeen to Inverness, were also affected, with ScotRail facilitating connections via bus services.
Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between Lockerbie and Carstairs, all lines are blocked. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Please check your journey.
Work to repair the lines damaged by the fallen tree near Beattock was well under way and they were on target to reopen the line at about 11:30.
