Here Comes A Regular is a short film co-written by Gerry O'Boyle and features staff and patrons of The Boogaloo pub. Shot in one day at the venue in Highgate, it includes surreal stories of patrons and highlights the beauty of pubs as vital community spaces. O'Boyle emphasizes their significance for mental and spiritual health, particularly following the pandemic's impact on the pub industry. The film reflects themes of love for pubs and community connection, and it is set to be entered in film festivals.
There are good pubs and there are great pubs, that are made from love and not for money.
It's a love letter to pubs. As we all know the pub industry has taken a huge blow since the pandemic and the bad news has been relentless with the cost of living crisis.
I wanted to make a film about the beauty of pubs, about how they are important for the mental, spiritual and physical health of the customers.
The film is a celebration of community and connection.
