Rick Buckler, drummer for The Jam, dead at 69
Briefly

Rick Buckler, the esteemed drummer of The Jam, has died at 69. His family announced he passed peacefully in Woking after a short illness. Fellow bandmates Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton expressed their sorrow, recalling fond memories of their journey together. The Jam, active from 1972 to 1982, produced iconic music, shaping the punk-infused pop sound and influencing many future bands. After the group's breakup, Buckler pursued a variety of musical projects before leaving the industry only to return briefly in 2005. He published an autobiography in 2015 reflecting on his time with the legendary band.
Rick was a good guy and a great drummer whose innovative drum patterns helped shape our songs. I'm glad we had the chance to work together.
What a journey! We went far beyond our dreams and what we made stands the test of time. My deepest sympathy to all family and friends.
