At least 60 innocent people injured or killed in Sweden's gang war
Briefly

Over the past few years, at least 60 innocent individuals in Sweden have suffered from shootings or explosions tied to gang conflicts. Victims include those mistaken for gang members or related to them. According to police operative August Knutsson, many perpetrators are young individuals who were not part of the conflicts and often operate under the influence of drugs. In 2023 alone, two-thirds of these incidents occurred, highlighting the urgent issue of collateral damage in gang violence, with 2025 having already recorded injuries and fatalities among non-gang related individuals.
"This is a consequence of the fact that many of the people carrying out these crimes are not parties to the actual conflict," August Knutsson, an operative coordinator for the police, told the reporters.
"Many of the perpetrators are young people who take on various missions. They are often under the influence of drugs, have a low level of local knowledge and do not know the individuals involved."
