On March 5, the Bexley council will finalize its budget for the 2025/26 financial year, which includes an extensive investment exceeding 500 million for everyday services. A total of 262 million is projected to be allocated over the next four years through the capital program. The budget proposes a 4.99% council tax increase and aims to address social care for both children and adults, alongside educational needs, while acknowledging financial challenges faced by residents amid rising living costs.
We understand that many taxpayers are under pressure due to the cost of living. We are, as always, committed to spending their money sensibly.
Through this budget and our medium-term financial strategy, we are delivering - and will continue to deliver - on our promises set out in our Bexley Plan to support the aspirations of our residents.
This is a budget set in extremely challenging economic circumstances. Bexley is committed to making investments that support essential services while managing costs for residents.
The council will be spending an average of about 1.1 million per day on revenue and capital, ensuring support for various community needs.
