Bromley Scouts, the UK's largest Scout district, is celebrating its 60th anniversary by launching a '60 for 60' initiative to recruit 60 new volunteers. This effort aims to provide greater opportunities for local youth, particularly those on waiting lists for activities and essential life skills. Mayor David Jefferys emphasized the importance of community involvement, highlighting Bromley's success in fostering a volunteer culture. Lead volunteer Shelia Howard noted that current contributions enable the district to serve over 3,000 young people weekly, and they hope to expand this reach significantly through the new initiative.
Given the huge number of passionate volunteers I regularly encounter, it was of no surprise that Bromley has the largest Scout District in the country. This speaks volumes about our community's dedication to youth development.
Thanks to the contributions of all our incredible volunteers, we are able to give over 3,000 young people exciting and rewarding opportunities each week.
We are now looking for 60 passionate volunteers to join us for the 60 years of Bromley, which will mean that many of those currently on our waiting lists will be able to join the fun and start learning skills for life.
I strongly encourage any who can spare some time to get involved with Bromley Scouts, who deliver such incredible opportunities for our young people across the borough.
