The ABC Book Club, supported by the Acorn Group, has created a new library at Turnham Primary School in Brockley, one of the many UK schools lacking such facilities. Former Arsenal player Ian Wright opened the library, emphasizing the importance of reading. The library’s design, chosen with input from the School Parliament, features a fairground theme to make reading more inviting. With community support, the ABC Book Club re-donates pre-loved books and has established over 30 school libraries, enhancing literacy and fostering a love for reading among children.
"It's an incredible school with a wonderful community supporting it and I know the library we built for the children will be used, loved and appreciated."
"Ian, who has previously supported Turnham by opening an all-weather football pitch, shared fond memories of the library as a place of sanctuary during his childhood."
