Briefly

Graffiti including swastikas was discovered in a children's playground at Clissold Park, near a large Orthodox Jewish community. The vandalism took place during Passover, with Hackney Council quickly mobilizing teams to remove the hateful graffiti. Mayor Caroline Woodley emphasized the need for safety in public spaces, while Cllr Susan Fajana Thomas condemned the actions and stated that the council is cooperating with the police to investigate. The Community Security Trust noted record levels of antisemitic incidents in the UK, highlighting ongoing concerns in the community.
According to @Clissoldpeople park management is aware, signs have been put up, and the specialist cleaning team has been informed.
Hackney Council strongly condemns the hateful graffiti that appeared in a local play area this week. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place in our borough.
We’re also working closely with partners, including the police, to investigate this matter and take any further necessary action.
Everyone should feel safe to play in Hackney.
